After a day of torrential rain on Friday and a not very good forecast for the Saturday I was pleased to be able to mark out the course in the dry. 48 runners took part in the race to the summit of Gyrn Moelfre and back to the Community Centre. Leading the way was Jez Brown from Buckley Runners in 43:07 followed by four Oswestry Olympians with Simon Barkley and Peter Jones taking the podium positions. The first lady home was Nicola Davies of Maldwyn Harriers in a time of 54:06. followed home by Eleanor Robinson of West Cheshire Athletics Club and Charlotte Hunter and unaffiliated runner. The rain stayed away for the duration and the Community Centre had a good turn out for the local fayre. I would like to the thank the locals and club members who marshalled or booked in runners, undertook the timing and recording and generally helped to make a great event.
