On a beautiful sunny morning with a cool breeze the lucky runners set off on the first Cyrn Y Brain Hill Race from the top of the Horseshoe Pass. Charles Ashley the organiser, and all his helpers, hope that from small beginnings the race will grow like the Ponderosa and Moel Y Gamelin races. Huw Davies from Stone, Staffs set the record for this new race and Lisa Grantham from Burton, Wirral did the same for the ladies. The 7 mile hill race will be a fixture on the calendar for the same weekend next year when the word gets around about a cracking race not to be missed.      Bob Frost, Wrexham AAC
