There was a large turnout as the race was a counter in the Welsh Fell Runners Association North Wales Series (sponsored by planetFear).
Weather conditions were cool, overcast, breezy on the tops. It was extremely wet and slippery underfoot (definitely no drought in Blaenau Ffestiniog).
There was a close battle at the front between Ifan Richards of Meirionnydd and Andrew Davies of Mercia. Ifan won in a time of
1 hour 21 minutes and 37 seconds with Andrew one second behind. Paul Jones of Mercia was 3rd in 1.23.39 (also 1st O/40). Other
category winners Over 50 Michael Belshaw (Eryri) 1.38.28, Over 60 Michael McLoughlin (Preston) 1.52.10.
The ladies race was won by Lauren Jeska of Aberystwyth in a time of 1.28.31. Despite the slippery conditions this was more than
3 minutes inside the ladies record! Lauren had won the first British Championship race of 2012 a week earlier in the Lake District.
Andrea Rowlands of Eryri was 2nd in 1.42.44 and Mary Gillie of Clwydian was 3rd in 1.47.25. Other category winners Over 40 Ali
Thomas (Eryri) 1.52.40, Over 50 Nicola Davies (Borrowdale) 1.51.25, Over 60 Maggie Oliver (Eryri) 2.30.46.
