Y Garn Race Saturday 1st August (British Champs, WFRA Open / Welsh Champs, WFRA North Wales Series)       Results      Pics from Alastair Tye       Pics from Peter Douglas

This year the top fell runners in Britain were present as it was the final counter in the British Fell and Hill Running Championships. Heavy overnight rain and strong winds had given way to a pleasant day - dry, light winds and sunny intervals. Conditions were good for the runners albeit a bit slippery on the descent after the rain. The summit was clear. Because of the strong field both the mens and ladies records were broken. The race was won by Bangor University student Nick Swinburn of Northumberland Fell Runners who finished in a time of 25 minutes and 44 seconds (also 1st under 23). The ladies race was won by Clare Whitehead of Cosmic Hillbashers in a time of 32 minutes and 8 seconds. There was a good turnout for the junior race which was the final counter in the Welsh Fell Runners Association Snowdonia Series. Snowdonia Junior Series Award Winners
