FOEL FRAS Saturday 9th May
There was a good turnout this year as the race was a counter in the WFRA North
Wales Series. However, a period of bad weather, worse than expected, arrived
just as the runners approached the summits. Cold, low cloud, gale force winds
and driving rain made navigation difficult and more than a quarter of the field
failed to complete the course. Fortunately, the severe weather was short
lived and everyone returned safely (eventually). Two competitors ended up
in Ogwen and one in the Conwy Valley! I expect the next WFRA Navigation
Course will be well attended! Provisional results are as shown. It is
known that 61 runners passed through Moel Wnion. Therefore, some of
those that have been credited with a time did not complete the full course.
If you did not visit all the checkpoints (including Moel Wnion) and
have been given a time please let Ross know so that the North Wales Series
results can be as accurate as possible. |
