Ras yr Aran       Sat 22nd March       Results

Strong winds and snow once again returned to create a challenging race for both organisers and runners. The morning was spent considering the options. The race organiser Nich Bradley, Marshals, National park wardens and mountain rescue looked at the conditions on the hill and deliberated on the options available. As a consequence of the severe wind and snow conditions the race was curtailed slightly to take out the flat section between Aran Benllyn and Mawddwy. The decision maintained the altitude gain and gave runners a taste of the conditions on the plateau between the two peaks.
81 runners took part in the challenging conditions. The lower section was snow free where runners contended with freezing pools and deep peat bog. On the higher ground the snow gradually increased to 8 inches at the turn around at LLyn Aran Benllyn.
