The sun shone and the breeze ruffled the normally pelucid Llyn Brenig today, as the 49 runners got away on the 2013 edition of the Brenig trail race. Matt Ward soon established a convincing lead and stormed home to win in 56:37, knocking some 10 seconds off his 2012 time. Matthew Fortes was not far behind in 56:47, to clinch a 1:2 for the Eryri boys and leaving local man John Morris to scoop third for Denbigh Harriers. The ladies race fell once again to Andrea Rowlands, finishing in 1:03 over the 9+ mile course and only 20 seconds adrift of her 2011 time. Second in the ladies was Becki Law of Eryri ( 1:08:49) followed closely by Julie Harnden of Wrexham AC in 1:11:33. Thanks to all the marshals and as always, the good folk of Dwr Cymru, for the use of the Brenig Centre.
