The first running of 2 Hill Forts from the Kinmel Arms, Llandyrnog took place in good running conditions and the clouds were well
clear of the 2 hills in question – Penycloddiau and Moel Arthur.
Mark extended his lead on the tough climb up the first hillfort and got even
stronger on the short but very sharp pull up onto Moel Arthur. Mark came home in 65.44, 3 minutes ahead of of second
placed Gary House (68:52) who was in 2nd place for the latter half of the race. Then came a strong finishing Ciaran
Allen of Dee Orienteers (1st u/23), John Morris of Denbigh and, in 5th, 1st v/50 Vic Belshaw of Denbigh.
First
(and only!) lady, continuing her comeback was Eryri's Andrea Rowlands, who took 7th in an impressive 77:34.
Further back, taking 1st v/60 was Buckley's John Morris in 90:34 and 1st v/70 Peter Chittenden (124:21).
Special mention to first international runner – Willem v Prooijen (Clwydian Runners) who came home in
91:35.
Thanks to all runners and marshals for being part of this new race.
