"It's not all about the winning"

A record 71 adults arrived at Moel y Gest on tuesday on a balmy evening following a hot day. The epitome of the sport was underlined when Tring AC's John Millen and Keith "Tan" Williams came across Ashley "Marathon Des Sables" Wager with a badly sprained ankle. Forfeiting their own chances, they proceeded to carry Ashley off to a waiting vehicle before continuing on to arrive back at the finish to a round of applause and an Easter egg each.

In the race, Math made it five Moel y Gest wins in successive years in 33:39 from Ifan Richards and John Rowley, while John Parkinson broke the M40 record in 5th place, Steve P Jones taking the 50s in 8th. First u/18 was Mabon Llyr (13th) and first M60 was Mike Blake (37th) and first 70th Emyr Davies (44th) - all of us setting new records. Sam Hughes won the u/16 (49th) - sorry I missed you out at the prize giving, present it iou at the Great Orme. In the ladies, Bronwen Jenks continues to rule the roost setting an outright record overall 22nd in 44:16 ahead of Kath Broach 1st 40 in 33rd, Ellie Salisbury 1st 50 in 45th, Nicky Maysmore 1st senior lady 47th and Maggie oliver 1st 60 in 66th.

Three runners missing from the results list: Glyn Griffiths, Barney Broatch, Richard Bourne - let me (01286 831115) or JP (drjohn@backofbeyond.co.uk) know where you finished.
