Still and sunny conditions greeted the fifty-nine competitors as they lined up for the 9th running of the Pipe Dream Race with plenty of new faces on the start line. with lots of unattached runners.
Amongst the line up was a newcomer to North Wales representing Kent AC, in the form of Russell Bentley who led from the start.
He was so fast over the course which he had never visited before the timekeepers questioned whether he had actually completed the proper route.
He finished in 35.07, a mere 4 seconds off the record! One to watch perhaps.
Second place and first V40 in 37.10 John Parkinson (Eryri) confirmed that he had stayed with Russell as long as he could towards the summit but lost sight of him soon after. Aled Edwards (u/a) followed up in third.
Adam Haynes finished 5th overall and 1st V50, in a fantastic time of 37.46, only 10 seconds off his own V50 record.
Becky Tayler (u/23) of Bangor Uni finished on top in 44.49. Rebakah Newstead second, and Eryri's Jenny Williamson in third.
Lesley Goodsun won the V40, whilst the Ladies V50 was hotly contested, with Ellie Salisbury (Eryri) pipping Brenda Tiedtke (Prestatyn) by 5 seconds in a gripping battle to the bitter end.
