A deserved win for Jez Brown by over 2 minutes on home territory. I'd a feeling he was going for it as he wasn't out with our motley
crew the night before! The course had been extended a little by some off colour flagging so nothing should be read into the actual
times (well certainly my time!!) Helsby's Jane Joy is improving rapidly and rapidly she ran to claim the ladies prize. Second places
in both categories were taken by Daddy Ashcroft and Katie Ashcroft!!
Buckley John Morris seemed to have recovered fully from his impression of a frozen mop the week before and Denbigh John Morris,
50 years his junior, ran like the wind in only his third fell race to get a top twenty place - what heroes! We were priviledged
to have the current over 60's leader of the British Fell Championships visiting our gentle hills and Rob Taylor of Pennine
therefore knocked 25 places out of me to take the over 60 prize (I should have stayed on the start line!). The weather was
just about right for this time of year in contrast to some recent formidable experiences. Thanks to all the marshals and
helpers who made it alll go like clockwork - and allowed me to have a go at my own race - I'm looking forward to Peter
Douglas's photos, and who else was snapping at the top of the stony gully?
